The following examination is based in the idea that there are meanings in names. If we are all sent out into the world by the L-rd for a purpose, it would behoove us to understand all we possibly can about that purpose. Many times our purpose is prophetic by understanding our name.

There will be several sections to this type of study. First, the name will be explained here as it would appear in Hebrew along with the overall top level understanding based on the meanings. Then we will drill down into the Hebraic Gematria and try to understand and expound upon them from the Kabbalistic point of view that exemplifies them. Of course, this will necessarily be done with the Biblical background and understanding of Messiah as the basis of enlightenment in which the Biblical sources dictate.

Of the name Denning, the E and I are vowel points of the letters preceding them. Since there are technically no vowels in Hebrew, we will drop those.

Basic Explanation

Base Meanings: 

D = Dalet  = 04 = Door or Opening
N = Nun    = 50 = Fish or Messiah (Who is) Heir To the Throne
N = Nun    = 50 = Fish or Messiah repeated
N = Nun    = 50 = Fish or Messiah thrice
G = Gimmel = 03 = Camel or Bridge

Letter Interpretations:
Door = Pathway or opportunity, transparency.
Fish = Denoting L-rdship, dominion ownership, and source of supply; also, Being in the midst of living waters, being a source of feeding or nourishment.
Camel = denoting burden bearing, long suffering, pathway, or connection; also, Sustaining power or ability to endure, travel.
Bridge = Idea of pathway or being transported or connecting.

Basic Hebraic Gematria

The first thing noticed here is that Nun is repeated three times. The supply of our Source is tripled. This brings to mind many things:

  • The three-fold cord not quickly broken
  • The three major gifts of the Messiah at birth
  • The three-fold blessings of HaShem (which can also be seen in the Chanukkiah as 1 doubled, doubled again, and then doubled again as a light to the world.
  • The three major operational conditions of El Echad or G-d Who is One in:
    • Source and Power of The Word,
    • The Word in Flesh perfectly performed and sacrificed to pay the restitution penalty of The Word broken,
    • The Word brought to Remembrance to function in the purpose of Separation unto sanctification in offering of thanks unto salvation.

So we have here a perfect example of the message that the Messiah-ship is to be lived out in us and exemplified three times over. 

04 = 0 + 4 = 4 = Dalet  = Door
50 = 5 + 0 = 5 = Hey    = Breath or Spirit
03 = 0 + 3 = 3 = Gimmel = Bridge or Camel

Interpretive Meaning: One comes to the Door of the Spirit by the Bridge.
Spiritual Revelation: In order to come to the Door of the opportunity of life in the Spiritual, one must cross the Bridge of the sacrificial payment made in their stead so that they do not fall in the pit while trying to be the bridge themselves and coming up short in their efforts.

Kabbalistic Gematria

  • DNNNG = Dalet Nun Nun Nun Gimmel = 04+50+50+50+03 = 157
    • 157 = Qoph Nun Zayin = Kenaz or Knaz in Standard Hebrew or Qenaz (Qei-naze) in Tiberian Hebrew
    • Qoph = Monkey
    • Nun = Fish
    • Zayin = Sword or Scepter

Wikipedia: Kenaz or Knaz - hunter - is the name of several persons in the Hebrew Bible.

  1. A son of Eliphaz and a grandson of Esau. He was an Edomite leader. (Genesis 36:11, 15, 42). He may have been the ancestor of the Kenezites.
  2. Caleb's younger brother, and father of Othniel (Josh. 15:17; Judg. 1:13; 1 Chr. 4:13), whose Judahite family was of importance in Israel down to the time of David (1 Chr. 27:15). Nothing more is said of Kenaz in the Hebrew Bible, but Pseudo-Philo (written c. AD 70) makes this Kenaz the first judge of Israel after Joshua, and includes several chapters of narrative about his supposed judgeship of 57 years.

Interpretive Meaning: strength, agility, cunning, and randomness or uncertainty; Fish or Messiah (Who is) Heir To the Throne denoting L-rdship, dominion ownership, and source of supply; war, weapon, power, rule, ruler or kingship.
Spiritual Revelation: Yea, you can see that based on this we may be here on this one for days. Let's start with the idea that by the strength of the Messiah there is dominion ownership in the kingship thereof. Also, by the uncertainty of the Heir-ship to the Throne is where the basis of war against G-d is rooted. Then, by the cunning of the Messiah in the plan of salvation, we have power and rule over death of separation from G-d. There are many other meanings you could gain out of this section alone.
Interpretive Spiritual Revelation: Using the methods of a Hunter, because of the uncertainty in the enemy on the methods of attack which are rooted in strength, agility, and cunning, these can provide to the spiritual heir the ownership of dominion over the source of the supply of the weapons of war which lend to the power of rule in the ruler or kingship.

      • = G-d or Thrust or Hand denoting the power of the hand of G-d reaching out into the world; Camel or Bridge denoting burden bearing, long suffering, pathway, or connection.
      • = 1+0+0+3 = 4 = Dalet = Door
      • = 1+0 and 0+3 = 1 and 3 = Aleph Gimmel = G-d/Master/Ox denoting leader or headship; Camel or Bridge denoting burden bearing, long suffering, pathway, or connection.

Interpretive Meaning: The doorway to long suffering and burden bearing is in the power of the hand of G-d reaching out into the world.
Spiritual Revelation: By the Hand of G-d there is power reaching out into the world for those who are bearing burdens and long suffering in love because they know the pathway to the One True G-d Who is the Master over everything.

    • 22 = Number of Letters in basic Alef-Bhet
    • 22 = Kaph Bhet = Palm of Hand and House = Giving, Dexterity, Workman and House or Abode.
    • 22 = 2+2 = 4 = Dalet = Door

Interpretive Meaning: House of Giving with a Door or openness.
Spiritual Revelation: Denning is a Door of a House or Dwelling of Giving.

Summary

Take-away Point of Interest:
In this name of Denning, the letter Nun is repeated three times. In these are the three major operational conditions of El Echad or G-d Who is One in:

  • The Source and Power of The Word
    (Nun as fish which is a source of nourishment),
  • The Word in Flesh perfectly performed and sacrificed to pay the restitution penalty of The Word broken
    (Nun being the men for which we fish out of the world of death into the spiritual existence of life to flourish in the presence of living waters),
  • The Word brought to Remembrance to function in the purpose of Separation unto sanctification in offering of thanks unto salvation
    (Nun being a separate entity from the water or the world; being in the water {world} but not of the water {world}).

So we have here a perfect example of the message that the Messiah-ship is to be lived out in us and exemplified three times over.

Interpretive Meaning Summary: One comes to the Door of the Spirit by the Bridge provided in the sacrifice of payment and becomes part of the House of Giving as a door of openness because of that which was given freely to which we now give; and, that which is utilized is strength, agility, cunning, and randomness or uncertainty of plot and ploy to the enemy and accuser with the faith of Messiah Who is the Heir to the Throne and signifies L-rdship and dominion ownership, and is the source of supply with weapons of war and power in rule belonging to the ruler or kingship - The doorway to long suffering and burden bearing in the power or enabling favor that is the blessing of the hand of G-d reaching out into the world resulting in grace to those who believe on Him and not just in Him.

Spiritual Revelation Summary / (B'derekh shel hakol kashoorah, HaKavanah - By way of everything in order, The Intent): In order to come to the Door of the opportunity of life in the Spiritual, one must cross the Bridge of the sacrificial payment made in their stead so that they do not fall into the pit between death in the world and life in the spirit while trying to be the bridge themselves between the two and coming up short in their best but only human efforts. By the strength of the Messiah there is dominion ownership in the kingship thereof, and also by the uncertainty of the Heir-ship to the Throne by those who would not believe in the sacrificial payment of the penalty for breaking Torah by the One who kept it perfectly and was made to be the payment for those who could not pay it without remaining in sin by their own death before coming to spiritual life in this world is where the basis of war against G-d is rooted. Then therefore, by the cunning wisdom of the Messiah in the plan of salvation, to thwart the plans of the enemy we have power by the favor or enabling support of the hand of G-d and the rule over the death of separation from G-d by our dependence on His ability to complete that which he started. Using the methods of a Hunter, because of the uncertainty in the enemy on the methods of attack which are rooted in strength, agility, and cunning, these can provide to the spiritual heir the ownership of dominion over the source of the supply of the weapons of war which lend to the power of rule in the ruler or kingship. By the Hand of G-d, there is power reaching out into the world for those who are bearing burdens and long suffering in love because they know the pathway to the One True G-d Who is the Master over everything; Who has given freely to all and by Whom we in the House of Denning serve as a doorway to a dwelling or abode of giving because of that which was first given freely to us.
